Review: Dual Hearts

Dual Hearts Dual Hearts by Emily Vincent
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 stars - 🌟🌟🌟☆

It could use more seduction.

Elisha Lornal dreams of succeeding the audition held by Class Enterprises. Her dreams are shattered when a co-contestant, Mercury tampers with her heels. To her surprise, she lands as a waitress in the same club and one day she gets to work in the Elite area of the club, where she meets Chris.

The story started well, but as I couldn't get attached. I liked the initial chapters, until she started working in the club. But then, it felt like the plot was rushed. I couldn't feel the emotions at most of the places. I expected Mercury and Elisha to clash at some point, but nothing happened. Though the said character played a role in creating a rift between Chris and Elisha.

Elisha is confused with her relation between Xander and Chris. Um... I couldn't feel her conflicting emotions nor understand why she thinks she is in love with Chris. The story follows Elisha's point of view and we are told that she and Chris talked about everything and anything. I'd have loved more dialogues between them. The ending is dramatic and reminded me of many Hollywood Romance movies.

It doesn't have any intimate scenes, so those who prefer to read a clean romance, this is their book. Again, Elisha ends up sleeping with Chris on their first day out in the next scene it's said that they are in love.

We are told that it was Mercury who is behind the drama, but the readers don't get to see what happened. A scene where they both confront each other would've been nice. I'd have loved seeing a conflict between the characters, instead of being told. The only problem I had was that I couldn't connect with the story due to lack of emotions.

It's a quick read and I finished it under an hour.
