Review: The Tethered God by Barrie Condon

Review: The Tethered God by Barrie Condon

I love everything and anything that's connected to ancient Egypt. I'm obsessed with its rich history. So when I saw the blurb, I was instantly hooked. It didn't disappoint. Apart from Egypt, I'm also fascinated with the concept of reincarnation. This book wraps both in one, so it's a win for me.

In the past, Egyptian Prince Khafre hates his father and happily watches as his body is mummified. In present, Prince Khafre is reincarnated a police dog. I found this humorous and enjoyable with how the entitled prince tries to make sense of the modern world.

Personally, I loved the scenes from the old Egypt. Not gonna lie, it was a feast to me. The storytelling was fantastic with dark humor woven perfectly. It fed well to my Egyptian fantasies. I found this really intriguing, enjoyable and entertaining. I love how it all came together in the end. Definitely recommend this to people who love historical fiction and mystery.

I wish I had more of the past because like I mentioned, I'm addicted to ancient Egypt.

From the mind that brought you Science for Heretics, comes a darkly comic thriller.

When Khafre, the mighty Egyptian God-King, died four and a half thousand years ago, he expected an eternity in paradise. Instead, he found himself in modern-day Cairo, trapped inside the lowliest of creatures, a police dog who earns its living by sniffing out bombs.

Yet, nightly, vivid dreams taunt him, conjuring up a brilliant life of wealth and power. As his past life reveals itself, he discovers himself to have been a man willing to pursue heresies, break sacred boundaries and even murder for the woman he loves. But nothing in these memories explains why the gods have chosen to punish him so severely.

Enduring endless humiliations in a new life he doesn’t understand, and unable to communicate his predicament, he finds himself suddenly thrust into a plot to kill millions of people. Helpless and alone, he must fight to save Egypt and his own soul.
