Review: An Innocent Wife

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

An Emotional Roller-coaster

This story is about the love/married life of a couple, Eunice and Joshua. Joshua loses his daughter in an accident that involves his Eunice, but his weak twisted mind turns all the grief into hatred for his wife. His reason—Eunice drove the car with his daughter (a result of one-night-stand) even when he said not to bring his daughter.

In an attempt to break her, he does everything including cheating on her with her own friend. The rest of the story is for you to read.

Eunice: Innocent, loving and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She loves her husband even after everything he puts her through. Her character could be considered in a different perspective of the reader, but to me she simply portrays the few woman I've met in my daily life. Sometimes I wanted to smack her and tell her to move on, but the heart want what it wants. I'll never understand this thing. How many of you had wondered why Selena Gomez keeps taking Justin Bieber back though he cheats on her everytime? Just a random thought, really. But after reading this book I think I have an idea why.

Joshua: Spineless swine. Yeah, that's him. He believes what he thinks is right. Always put a child before his wife. Thinks with his d*** and acts with his balls. On the positive side, the instant hatred towards this character couldn't be avoided and cheers, author.

Eunice's friends: Very supportive and voice of reasoning. They try their best to help their friend in every situation and stick together.

Though there are several books with the similar concepts, I liked the emotions and the plot flow. Repetitive dialogues at some places could've been avoided. I am not pleased with the way it ended and I wish the author stuck to her original ending. That is Joshua committing suicide. Don't be afraid to take risks in your future stories. Not all readers think the same and not all would like a happy ending. Some pain and heartbreak wouldn't hurt.

Review: Lucan, Part 1

Lucan, Part 1 Lucan, Part 1 by Christine Duts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

LOVED IT!

I am glad I read this.

This is the first book I read from this author and I am hooked to her style. Lucan, a Roman vampire narrates his story. We are taken into a journey through time and history as he reminisces his memory. The readers get a wide glimpse of ancient Rome, their rulers, customs, lifestyle and so on.

The plot flows smoothly without a hitch. Every character has a remarkable role to play even though they appear only in a few scenes. They mature with every chapter and I loved the way the supernatural world was introduced. The vampires, banshees, werewolves—they all are at their finest forms. They aren’t cuddly and create the fear in our minds.

First, I loved the realistic approach. It didn’t feel like I was reading a fiction. Secondly, I appreciate the female characters. They are intelligent and bold. The lives of slaves in ancient period mentioned in detail, make us feel what hardships they went through and couldn’t help but feel bad for them. The author didn’t miss to make her point through Lucan, the slaves were humans too. They should be treated as such.

Lucan – After reading his story, I can only think of him as—a beloved son, a loyal brother, a lovely husband, a protective father. We see his character evolve from a newborn to a mature vampire. His childhood, his first love, his marriage, his children. The reason he becomes a fugitive all of a sudden.

Althea – She is an independent female with a strong will. Her character evolves with Lucan. We see her as a wife, a dedicated mother and as a furious vampire, who thirst for vengeance.
The story follows Lucan. It says how his perfect life has changed over the years and the plot has lots of emotions and drama to keep you hooked. The writing style and the beautiful descriptions stole my heart.

I loved this story and highly recommend this.

Review: His Alpha: Curving Straight Lines

His Alpha: Curving Straight Lines His Alpha: Curving Straight Lines by Rachelle Mills
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved it!

I am one of the privileged reader, who got to read this book on Wattpad. I love the works of Rachelle Mills and I am so happy that I could finally have her works on my shelf.

Tommie is the beta to Alpha Tate. When they come of age, they realize that the fate had intertwined their lives in the most impossible way. They struggle to come into terms of their sexuality. Being together and accepting their fate isn't easy. An Alpha is expected to choose a Luna who could bear children, a heir to his pack.

Tommie tries to go away for his studies, but when he returns after 4 years, the emotions he carefully tried to bury so deep is once again awoken. Through in a pack drama, you are in for the ride that's worth your time.

This is the first gay romance I read. As usual the author sends her readers on an emotional roller-coaster right from the beginning. Those who don't know about this author, she writes about pain and how to deal with it.

Her characters doesn't have it easy, they fight for it. She shows their weak, vulnerable moments. The characters of her stories always earn their respect, not just in the world they are portrayed, but also in the minds of their readers.

I love how her characters mature from the struggle they go through. Her works have motivated upcoming writers like me personally and professionally.

I highly recommend Rachelle's works. If you haven't read her stories before, you are missing it.

So what are you waiting for :D

Stolen Birthright_Book Review

Stolen Birthright_Book Review

Non-cliche Revenge Story!

This story is intended for mature readers and has a deep story plot.
Ella and her parents are ambushed during their visit to their neighbouring pack. She is sexually harassed and her parents are killed thereby making her an alpha.
Now in the dangerous world surrounded by power hungry packs, she must find a way to protect herself and the little members of the pack that won't abandon her. The fire for revenge burn within her and with no wolf and a strong pack she must find a way to avenge her parents death and all the wrong that was done to her.
This story is really written well. The author has taken a sensitive plot and treaded carefully. Ella is a strong female lead and the story revolves around her. She is clever, her intelligence compensate for the lack of her wolf and the methods she use is awesome.
This is not a cliché and the story will keep you hooked. This story might feel intense for some readers due to its emotions, which is so good by the way.
The approach on werewolf community in this story is very unique and the author has concentrated even on the finest details, leaving nothing out. You will meet a lot of females with strong will and definitely the alphas are not jerks. Well, except for a few and Ella has something for them.
My personal favourite is where she deliver four wolves who attacked her home to the enemy alpha, dressed up as dogs well more like they trim their hair to look like a poodle and more...no more spoilers, but this is freaking hilarious and a huge blow to their werewolf ego. There are more incidents like this in the book which will have you ROFL.
The story takes a surprising turn after a good first half and after that it is like you are in the midst of Hollywood action movies like Resident Evil or 28 days. The action scenes are done so well. The author's experience is evident in his writing and very informative for young authors.

I highly recommend this.

Crimson Wild - Lycans of Grayville #2_Book Review

Crimson Wild - Lycans of Grayville #2_Book Review

Love! Love! Love!
The female lead Jenna is introduced in the first book, Biting Wild.
Jenna is an alpha born and is one of the pure blood Lycan. At seventeen years old, she is pursued by Lycan and human males, but she is not interested in mating.
However, the world they live in was not all hearts and flowers. Jenna needs to stay on guard at all times because there are males who would do anything to claim her, even if it cost their lives.
If the existing problem is not enough, a vampire master is behind her playing his twisted games with the lives of innocent towns people. Vampires are stronger and unpredictable.
What will Jenna do when her innocent pack and humans got caught in the cross fire? There will be fights for survival, betrayal and most of all a pack of loyal Lycans who would lay their lives for their Alpha pair.
There are two types of werewolf stories, the one that would show the wild side of the wolves, the real nature of their dominance and fight for survival. Then, there is another type were the books mostly deal with the human side of the wolves, not going much into their wild side. I would say 80% of this book belong to the former. I loved the fight scenes and their training scenes. Jenna is an interesting character who is loyal to Ele though she is an alpha female herself.
Read this story to find out how Jenna saves her pack and neck from the foolish males and the vile vampires.

Biting Wild - Lycans of Grayville #1 _ Book Review

Biting Wild - Lycans of Grayville #1_ Book Review

Best Non-cliche Werewolf Story!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. I liked the unique approach on the Lycans and the story plot.
The plot and the concept is detailed. It's not in many stories you find a strong female lead that not only has a strong will but also a nature to never bow down or go belly up just because she is mated.
Ele is a human bitten by a rogue wolf, who turns her into a werewolf with a motive. The world she lives on is not the same after her transformation. Dangers lurk around every corner and she has to find and kill her maker before he kills her. Throw in a few horny ass males who all want a claim on her neck. She doesn't back down or run away, instead she stands her ground and use her new transformation to her advantage.
The story follows Ele through her transformation and her fights for survival. She does have a few trustworthy friends to accompany her.
What makes this plot interesting is Ele. She is sarcastic as hell, intelligent and know her own back like her hand. She doesn't let the new change affect her more than it should. The dialogues between Ele, Jenna and Clay will make you laugh, and there is lot of action in this one which is a feast for action lovers. There are no crazy alpha jerk mates.

Medallion of the Blue Star _ Book Review

Medallion of the Blue Star _ Book Review

LOVED IT!

Melissa’s life is turned upside down when her curiosity gets the best of her. Though her reckless decisions get her into troubles in the unknown world, she entered by accident, she has someone to help. Ky–a beautiful stranger–and the only one who knows of a way to get her back to her home. Melissa has no option but to trust her instincts and leave the rest to her fate.

Story – A fantasy that will introduce you to a medieval world with kingdoms ruled by Kings. The wonders of this world will leave your breathless. Dragons, witches, wizards, barbarian men, mermaids–you name it. Every character fits perfectly and plays their part.

Melissa Roberts – Melissa is like any fifteen-year-old girl–curious. She has a crush on a fellow pupil and is heart-broken when the queen bee makes her a laughing stock. We witness how she matures throughout the story.

Ky – Another favorite character of mine. He earns his respect right from the moment he is introduced. He is honorable and trustworthy.

Lady Ulrika – Wow… This character is outright evil. From the moment she makes her appearance she stirs that unpleasant feeling in the pit of your stomach. She lives up to her name and fulfills the expectation.

This story is very well-written. The plot flows smoothly and I loved the realistic approach of the female character. There are moments of humor that’ll crack you up. There are times you’ll just bite your nails and pray that the characters come out of it unharmed. I loved the twists and turns in this story. Just when you think everything is over, you are treated with another twist to bite your nails with. The story ends with an opening for a possible sequel and I can’t wait to read it.

Great Job!

My Experience with Inkitt

My Experience with Inkitt

Hello all,

It's a wonderful morning here and I am all geared up to write. I wanted to write this post for so long. I have come across many posts about Inkitt scams and claims that the company is fake, just taking away the rights of the authors and such.

I wanted to share my experience with you all, so that you can decide it for yourself.

An year ago, I was approached by Inkitt to participate on their Novel contest. I've never heard about them before, so I inquired and was supplied with whole lot of BS. I did submit my first book and then, pulled it out of the contest because I wasn't ready.

I was a newbie then. I had trouble with so many things and I wasn't ready to face the contest or nowhere ready to be published. I told the Inkitt staff that I wasn't ready. There were times I felt bad for turning them down, not to mention that I had a very less fan base then.

Now, a year later, I've established a good fan base and my confidence levels were better than before. I was surprised to receive an invitation from them again. This time, with a different offer. I grabbed the opportunity to become a part of their Reader's Affiliate Program.

I laughed when I read a blog post saying that Inkitt takes away your copyright. Inkitt doesn't do that. I've posted 11 stories on Inkitt so far and I control every aspect about my book.

The Inkitt team has been supportive than I could imagine. They respond within 12 hours and handles everything professionally. I love the transparency and working with them is really a great experience. They paid me what they offered and I am happy about it.

Another great thing is that Inkitt has more mature audience. Their comments are constructive and helps you grow as an author. Your works are also available in their site listings and it got me many fresh reads.

As you all know, I started with Wattpad. While Wattpad is good in its own way, it's really hard to get noticed among the millions of books available on the platform. Getting your books featured or signing up for their futures program is like a dream. However, in Inkitt, my experience so far is a pleasant one.

As for the publishing, I do not know about this. But, as a writer, you hold the rights to do what you want to do with your book. If you receive a contract, read through it before signing the contract. They won't do anything out of the agreement and you are responsible if you were careless about it.

Many of my author friends has published with Inkitt and are successful in their career as a writer. So, Happy writing folks... Enjoy what you do.

Review: Winter Heat

Winter Heat Winter Heat by Jennifer Lucia
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Winter needs more heat

Kelsey is thrust into the Witness Protection Program, posing as husband and wife with Liam in a remote cabin. He orders her around and she infuriates him, but they try to make the most of their situation. Can Kelsey and Liam keep it strictly professional or will they create winter heat?

The story started of well, but failed to maintain the thrill. There were a lot of times, I wanted to feel the tension, but there was none. The plot mainly focused on the couple in the remote cabin. They bicker, have sex and watch endless golf. The sexual tension could've been intensified and the situation with the serial killer could've been handled better.

Kelsey:

Not at all serious about the situation. Fantasize about bedding the US Marshall. Doesn't speak or act much like an attorney. Cares about wine and fireplace. Loves snow and long bubble baths.

Liam:

Maybe he should've paid more attention to Kelsey than the golf game.

description

Antagonist:

A serial killer escapes the prison with only motive of revenge on Kelsey. Poor thing only appears in Prologue and Last two chapters, if you exclude the repeated nightmares of Kelsey. He doesn't have any room to play and Jack Nelson is just for namesake.

The story has:

🍄Lots of snow.
🍄Winter ball.
🍄Golf game.
🍄Repeated nightmare that isn't scary.
🍄A kitten.
🍄Sexual tension that doesn't tense the readers.
🍄Female main lead, who worries about the lack of sex life.
🍄Possessive Male main lead, who is attracted to his charge and fall in love after a love making session.
🍄Antagonist who has no room to play.
